Have you ever looked up at the Moon and wondered...
Do we really know everything about it?
For centuries, people have gazed at the Moon in awe. Today, we've been taught that it's around 384,400 km away, that humans landed there in 1969, and that modern science has explained how it moves and behaves.
But every so often, videos, photographs and theories appear online claiming there is more to the story.
Are they uncovering genuine mysteries...
Or simply misunderstanding what they're seeing?
Let's open the case.
📂 OFFICIAL NARRATIVE
• The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite.
• It is approximately 384,400 km away.
• It orbits the Earth every 27.3 days.
• Humans first landed on the Moon during the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
• Scientists measure its distance using powerful lasers reflected from mirrors placed on its surface.
☪️ THE ISLAMIC PERSPECTIVE
Islam teaches us that the Moon is one of Allah's incredible signs.
Allah says:
"Indeed, in the creation of the heavens and the earth and the alternation of the night and the day are signs for people of understanding."
(Qur'an 3:190)
The Qur'an also tells us that the Sun and Moon both move according to Allah's perfect decree.
We also believe in the miracle of the splitting of the Moon, granted to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ by Allah.
However, the Qur'an does not tell us every scientific detail about the Moon, its distance or its composition.
As Muslims, we should be curious, seek knowledge and remain truthful.

❓ Why does the Moon sometimes look much bigger near the horizon?
❓ Why does it seem to follow us wherever we travel?
❓ Are the viral calculations shared online scientifically accurate?
❓ Could perspective and optical illusions explain what we see?
❓ Is there still more to discover about Earth's closest neighbour?
📖 WHAT WE DO KNOW
Allah also says:
"Do not pursue that of which you have no knowledge."
(Qur'an 17:36)
Modern astronomy provides strong evidence for the Moon's orbit, movement and distance.
At the same time, science continues to grow as new discoveries are made.
As Muslims, we should never fear asking respectful questions, but we should also avoid accepting claims without reliable evidence.
📂 CASE STATUS
✅ The Moon's distance and movement are strongly supported by modern scientific evidence.
✅ Many viral claims can be explained by perspective, photography or misunderstandings of optics.
✅ There is still much about the universe that humanity has yet to discover.
❓ FINAL QUESTION
If tomorrow new evidence changed our understanding of the Moon...
